The Exotic Shorthair is an absolutely adorable cat.
It is very much like the Persian cat except it has shorter hair.
This is a cat for everyone who loves the characteristics of the Persian cat, but would rather not spend the time grooming which the Persian cat does require.
Many people speak of this cat as the “Easy-care-Persian” or the “Lazy man’s Persian”.
The Exotic Shorthair has a round head and large eyes. The ears tend to be small. They have a flat, pushed-in face.
The body is compact and this cat has short legs.
The Exotic Shorthair has a lifespan of 9- 15 years.

They don’t mind being picked up and get along great with kids.
But beware; the Exotic does not like to be left alone.
This cat wants tons of love and affection.
The Exotic Shorthair is your typical lap cat; they also love to cuddle up on your bed.
The Exotic really needs lots of attention from cat loving family members.
These cats are calm and loyal, who are just begging to be loved.
History
The Exotic Shorthair was developed by breeders in the 1950’s.
Persian cats were crossed with American Shorthair cats. The end result was the Exotic Shorthair.
Jane Martinke suggested the name “Exotic Shorthair” for this new cat. Exotic Shorthair cats were officially accepted as a breed in 1966 by the Cat Fanciers Association (CFA).
